We are joining Merseyside Scouts in there mission to reduce plastic waste and produce Ecobricks for use at Tawd Vale Adventure Centre.
Ecobricks are plastic bottles full of tiny pieces of plastic. When full and of a certain weight, they become bricks/blocks for building!
We are encouraging Beaver Scout Colonies (and other Sections) to fill 2-litre bottles with plastic and to aim for a 660g weight. It is hoped that we can build things such as park benches for the community and a bothy at Tawd Vale Adventure Centre. There are some great ideas on the Ecobricks website.
Badge work could include: Creative Activity Badge; Community Impact Activity Badge and Global Issues Activity Badge.
The Ecobrick experience can change family lifestyles and if we adopt plastic free homes then less and less ecobricks will need to be created.
Interesting fact: in thirty year's time there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish!
More information and a sign up page is available on the County Website.
