Explorers Skills Day

The Explorers enjoyed an action packed day on Sunday 2nd October. They gained the Axe and Saw training. Also took part in tracking, fire lighting, map reading, bearings, leather craft and also a bit of cooking thrown in for good measure! Everyone who attended learnt something and had a great day, the rain didn't even slow us down! Look out for the next event!

Calling All Leaders

If you have a young person helping as part of the Leadership team during your sectional meetings. Don't forget to register them with the District Young Leader Unit. Ste Bennett the ESL (Young Leader) would be happy to hear from you! All young people helping within a section need to be registered with the Explorer Young Leader Unit to be cover by Scout Insurances.

 Young Leaders :

Liverpool North . . . . Young Leader’s Unit

It’s a very exciting time in the life of our young people, reaching 14 years and making a decision whether they want to spread their wings and join one of our 6 very active Explorer Scout Units; deciding whether in addition to Explorers they want to try their hand at being a Young Leader or deciding that being just a Young Leader is what they’d prefer.

One thing is for sure we want to see as many of our young people as possible staying on and choosing the role that is right for them. To support those young people who decide they want to be a Young Leader, we have a dedicated Young Leader’s Unit.

This will give them the chance to complete their training, some of which is required - Module A (for all Young Leaders in the first 3 months) and the other modules which are optional. Our goal is to make sure all our Young Leaders are given encouragement and allowed to develop to become an effective member of our local leadership teams and hopefully see them all fulfilling their potential and earning the Young Leader’s belt buckle.

Our meetings will be held at 17th Fairfield Scout HQ, Meadow Lane, West Derby from 7.00pm - 9.00pm the third thursday of every month.

Please let any 14-18 year olds currently working with a youth section know about the meetings and encourage them to come along. This includes Explorers who are also a Young Leader; young people who are solely a Young Leader; and any other 14-18 year old who is helping out as part of their D of E Award, Queen’s Guide Award or work experience for school or college.

If you have someone working with you that is unable to make the first meeting for any reason, ask them to get in touch with us and register their details and we can send them more information. Or send us their details and we will contact them.

Any enquiries about Young Leaders in the District or queries from Leaders who have young people working with them in their section, please get in touch with Andy Parle in the first instance.

Below is our standard registration form.Looking forward to seeing as many Explorers their as possible!
